Today is a Friday, usually what has been the prelude and passage into the weekend. But as we know with the current pandemic our weekends have not been what they have been pre-COVID, either that we do not have work to keep us busy during the weekdays and even if we do have work, we have nothing to look forward to for any difference in the upcoming weekend. That being said, it is truly a matter of perspective. For while in the past we might have enjoyed ourselves socializing and going out, in the New Normal the intent of these activities do not have to be given up, rather it’s only the methodology of effecting such that has to change.
KWRC Virtual Motorsport Rally
For example, socializing can continue through our devices, either with or without video. Interactive pursuits can use technological proxies – the motorsports Kitchener-Waterloo Rally Club has transitioned from physical rallying to virtual table top variants, but using the same maps, calculations and competitiveness common to the physical events. Additionally where there would have had a live speaker at their annual banquet, instead KWRC has instated a live speaker series with KWRC YouTube telecasting.
So this Friday, let’s live, laugh and love as we have before, taking our physical presence into the virtual in order to enjoy the same activities we did before the pandemic, with the nuance that we can do all that in our pyjamas. Happy Healthy Friday!
