The crime scene was a coffee bar where a body lay slumped over a cocktail table appearing to be poisoned. There was one almost empty glass with some water in it, and one almost full in the victim’s hand. The bartender said the victim and their guest ordered identical iced coffees that the victim brought over to the table. The victim’s guest left after quickly finishing their drink, while the deceased stayed on sipping theirs. Immediately the DCI suspected the bartender. Why?

If the poison was in the drinks the bartender had no way of knowing who would get the drink with the poison in it so he had to poison both, and did so through the ice cubes, where their accomplice drank their drink quickly without having the ice cubes melt while the victim took their time and the poison was released into the drink.
