Puzzle (Answer below)

A man was on trial for killing his wife. In the closing statements, the man’s lawyer announced that his client’s wife was just missing. He then said “look at those doors, my client’s wife is going to walk in anytime now.” The jury and spectators in the court all turned to watch the doors. The lawyer and the defendant watched the jury.

A few minutes passed and the lawyer said “If you were so sure my client killed his wife, you would not have been watching the door.”

The jury delivered a guilty verdict? Why?

Answer

The man was guilty because he did not turn to watch the door, but watched the jury instead. He knew his wife was dead and could not come through the door!
