The Spy had to escape and soon, but all she had in the small locked room with what appeared to be the key in the lock on the other side of the door were a pen and a piece of paper that she was expected to write her confession on. She could hear her captors down the hallway through which she was brought in, with a fire escape door just outside the locked chamber. She thought for a moment and then knew what to do!

Answer
Since the locked door was slightly off the ground so that sound from the guards could travel into the room, the Spy put the piece of paper under the door directly under the keyhole then took apart the pen to get to the ink cartridge, using the cartridge to push the key out of the lock unto the paper. She then slid the paper with the key under the door so that she could pick up the key and unlock the door.
