A 2010 study, Optimism and Its Impact on Mental and Physical Well-Being, still relevant for our times found through a review of scientific literature, that there was evidence that people with an optimistic attitude had a higher quality of life compared to those with less optimism or pessimism. It was viewed that optimism may significantly influence both a person’s mental as well as physical well being, through promotion of a healthy lifestyle, adaptive behaviours and cognitive responses. In the latter regard greater flexibility, problem solving capacity and better dealing with negative information were included benefits.
Problem Solving as a Positive Distraction
In this light we present a word puzzle that will make many laugh and will challenge most everyone in coming up with an explanation or at least theories for how this word came to be. Problem solving does not necessarily have to relate to the great challenges the world is facing, or that a person must deal with, where as can be seen can be as simple as trying to figure out why the word came into existence and for that matter has become obsolete.
Problem solving puts your mind to use, where generating solutions can lead to positive feelings of completion, success and accomplishment. There is some discussion that one gives rise to the other, where Being Positive means Better Problem Solving and the happier you feel, the more you can generate new options, opportunities, and experiences. This premise has been clinically reviewed in the context of meditation with positive suggestions in the study Open Hearts Build Lives: Positive Emotions, Induced Through Loving-Kindness Meditation, Build Consequential Personal Resources. So let’s start a journey of positivity with this innocuous word below that underlies the ongoing affection of our fur-babies and teenagers (Hint).
